Pigs Can Fly
indie / rock / alternative
Blast released their debut album 'Pigs can fly' in Russia in 1997. It was produced by Mark Tolle (Stone Roses - Second Coming).
Mark first met the band when he arrived in Moscow in a club called четыре комнаты (4 Rooms). Aside from the local крыша (ahem, roof!) taking exception to Mark's monobrow, almost bringing about a major diplomatic incident, band and producer got on well.
They reconvened a couple of day later, with recordings taking place through early 1997 at L.K.K. Studios (Lubertsy, Moscow). However, it was during the recording process that the old drummer (name unremembered) had to be replaced; he was not able to replicate what he could live in a studio environment. In stepped Sergei.
Mark was heavily involved in refining the songs and sounds on the LP, contributing keyboards throughout.
The album was mixed and mastered at R.E.L. Studios in Edinburgh, and released in August 1997.
