Fermion
Conflicted
Fermion’s album Conflicted is out now on Re:Mission Entertainment—and it might be their most intense and fully realized work to date. The New York-based duo, made up of Eric Shans and Augustine Backer, has been steadily carving out their own lane in electronic music, blending Synthwave, EBM, Industrial, and Darkwave into a sound that’s both emotionally charged and rhythmically relentless.
There’s a clear evolution in every track—sharper production, deeper atmosphere, and a raw tension that gives the whole record its name. Singles like “Unity With Chaos” and “Impetus” offer pounding beats, vocoded vocals, and melodies that linger well after the first listen. The duo leans heavily into technical sound design, crafting detailed layers that reward focused listening as much as dancefloor play.
Mixed and produced by Justin Singer at 10x13 Studio, Conflicted feels polished but never overprocessed. It’s music for the margins—between day and night, past and future, identity and ambiguity. Recommended for fans of Front Line Assembly, Noise Unit, :Wumpscut:, and Skinny Puppy, this is a record that sits comfortably within the canon of modern Electro-Industrial while pushing its own distinct vision forward.
Available as a limited edition CD and across all digital platforms.
