“Desperation” is, at its core, a song about writer’s block. But more than that, it’s about the insecurity and vulnerability that comes with writing music and the emotional tax of not feeling up to the task. It’s about the dread of needing new ideas and not finding them. It’s about the self-hatred and anger and inadequacy you feel when all your ideas sound the same. It’s an ode to the creative process in the shadow of self-doubt. And yes, it’s ultimately about desperation — the desperate want and need to express oneself and the ways we make it harder for ourselves than it needs to be.
"Wendy's" is a live improv from Oct. 2021 that meditates on the wonders of a Classic Chicken Sandwich with All-Natural Lemonade.
