Lürgid
Zoolology

Zoology, the hot new album from Lürgid, collects recordings from many habitats of moods and machines and exhibits them as a sonic bestiary. With genre as the genus, each track is its own species of sound and creature of composition.
"I've been quietly making tracks for a while, each born at a different time, in a different mood, on a different rig. I realised that if I wanted to release them, the album would be a look across genres - a snapshot of the variety that inhabits the medium of sound. So, I settled on the title Zoology. I think of it as a broad study of an ecosystem, with inspiration arriving like animals at the edge of a clearing. Zoology is my study of sonic species and aural organisms. Genre maps to genus, and each piece is a creature of composition collected and curated to show their wild differences and hidden kinships.
I won’t overwork the metaphor, but I did group the set into four vibes:
1. Animate Resonate Oscillate Propagate - upbeat grooves
2. Ghastly Ghostly Gnostic Caustic - more jarring, eerie, weird
3. Seep Soak Steep Smoke - ambient-ish
4. Simple Gentle Peaceful Restful - sweet arps and other niceties
Some placements feel obvious; others won’t. I’d rather you decide where each track belongs."
