When the void howls back: Splendidula's Kilte tears through a frozen landscape of grief and inner torment with relentless screams and haunting atmospherics, while Splendidula's self-titled debut lays the strong fundament — traditional doom and alternative rock laced with sludge grooves and psychedelic drones. Buzzard's Disunion delivers a state-of-the-planet address via Sabbathian riffs, Dylan-esque wordplay, and heavy fuzz Americana — "burning like watchfire rather than wildfire." Oskoreien's All Too Human meditates on free will through achingly beautiful black metal melodies, and Max Kutner's Rogue Lash collides industrial, drone metal, and experimental hip-hop into a sardonic, post-genre sonic behemoth. Vükland's íO rounds it out with heavy doom ambient for devotees of the deep and slow.
